Sing Out

Synopsis
Laney Waynewright, a once successful singer and renowned music instructor, returns to teaching for the first time since her divorce only to find herself at Malloy High School, an institution that’s over-crowded, under-funded, and about to loose the program she came to teach, vocal music. Now she must start with the basics and work her way up to instill hope, confidence, and a future for music to grow within the school, and within her students.

With the help of Principal Bird, a staunch supporter of Ms. Waynewright, Helen, her long time friend, and eight special students with eclectic musical tastes extending from pop, to hip-hop, to country, to soul, Laney turns the group of talented misfits into a tightly knit team, and the fledgling program into a successful class. Her efforts, however, are not enough to keep the department going as the school district, lead by Superintendent BRETT COLEMAN, is determined to turn itself around, will make every cut it can in order to get itself out of debt.

In the end it will be the students who have to find a way to save their choir as they take a stance and have the first annual SING OUT, in the hopes of winning enough recognition from the public to keep the class going. For this, Laney enlists the help of her long time friend, songwriter Walter Morton, to create a song that will encapsulate all her students’ unique vocal abilities, and give them a chance to express their souls and sing out.

From the Producers
SING OUT!, a young teen comedy set in a music program of a high school, has all the right elements to be both creatively and financially successful. Incredible music, a strong production team and youth oriented material makes SING OUT! a well rounded project that has the potential to target the tween, teenager and family markets.

We are introducing eight new recording artists in every genre on the charts. Male and female Spanish singers, African American and Caucasian hip hop artists, a female country singer, 14 year old pop contemporary artist in the realm of Josh Groban, a Bobby Darin type and a teenage idol. Knowing that the GREASE soundtrack has generated more profits than the movie it shows that this soundtrack has the potential to be a runaway success in itself. With Bob Marcucci’s 50 years of experience in film and music and Grammy award winning producer, Tony Camillo, who is attached to over see all music production, it guarantees that the soundtrack will be nothing short of amazing.

Nick Castle, set to direct, will bring a warm, feel good mood to the movie and producers, Bob Marcucci and Ben Scantlin, will convey the experience and the youth connection to the project. It’s a proven fact that youth targeted films have great potential for money return. THE SCHOOL OF ROCK, a comedy musical, grossed over 80 million domestically and over 100 million world wide. SING OUT! incorporates the same audience but also includes older teenagers. It’s an advertisers dream. Not since FAME has a movie been able to spread into television, Broadway and sequels so easily.

SING OUT! is a movie for today. With all the conflicts in the world there’s not a better time for this film to be out. We need a movie that we can all walk away from the theatre feeling great and SING OUT!
